  THE FOUNDER

Željko Banić is born in 1965. From his early youth days he was interested in sports. In the 4th grade of the primary school he started with wrestling trainings, and he has been ever since exploring and practicing different martial arts. This interest in sports led him to studies at the Faculty for Physical Culture where he started to explore more systematically different systems of fighting and martial arts.

He was then already more interested in functionality and practicality of different techniques. While studying, he was supporting himself working as a bouncer and a bodyguard. All those activities led him to start building his own free fight system. So he opened his first club in 1993, where he had a chance to recognize what are the problems in training, education and transfer of acquired knowledge. Due to the break of war in Croatia , the club ceased to work after two years of activities, only to be re-opened in 2001 under the name of UFC-CROWS.
